I recently discovered a unique email strategy that helped my clients…
-> lower their CPA by 4x
-> grow their list faster while doubling CVR
-> make $2MM per month in email revenue
-> and more
If those are results you’d like to get, too…
Then, here’s good news:
In this email, I’m gonna show you behind the scenes of the best email marketing strategy of today, and arguably the best one ever in history.
The best way for me to explain how this method works…
And to ensure you can understand & use it yourself…
Is to tell you a quick story:
(This is actually why the Email Growth Marketer newsletter exists btw, and it’s how I was able to invest in startups as a growth partner and get a 125% return in just 3 months, which you’ll see below, too.)
When I first started in business, I was a freelance email copywriter.
But I realized shortly after, there’s only so much you can do for a business with email copy.
I mean what happens if their deliverability gets bad, or they need help with automations and tech, and such.
And so to help clients get better results with my email copy, I started running their email lists.
You may have heard this term as an “email list manager.”
So, I essentially went from an email copywriter to running email lists.
On top of the emails though…
I’d also write opt-in pages & landers for my clients.
I did the same thing for myself, too.
However, there was this one issue that occurred when writing my own opt-in pages & landers for myself…
Since, I loved to learn, and I didn’t have a design & tech team to support me at the time…
I started building & designing those pages myself!
That way I could still promote my brand, get clients, and deliver lead magnets and such.
So despite being just an email copywriter…
I was actually pretty tech savvy, despite not branding myself as having these skills.
After doing this for a couple years, I started working with an agency as an email marketer and funnel builder.
That’s when I moved from copywriting to actually doing the tech side of things, too.
So instead of just writing the funnels…
And writing the emails…
I was also building & designing the funnels…
And building & designing the emails…
And setting up the email auto-responders on the backend.
You know, like when people “Opt-in” to a VSL or webinar…
But then don’t book a call or buy the product…
So you send them those drip nurture sequences to bring them back into the funnel, and nurture them to purchase, or get them to book with your sales team… you know what I mean, right?
At this point I was doing the writing & the tech side/automation side of things.
I knew email marketing & funnels in & out.
But I didn’t know how to drive traffic to those funnels.
So, I learned traffic strategies…
How to run FB ads…
And buy ad space on things like Taboola, GDN, affiliates, newsletters, and more.
Now, I knew the full funnel from end-to-end…
That’s how I got connected with a startup, which I ended up investing in and helping them scale.
The reason I got this opportunity with the startup was because they liked how I had proven results across the entire funnel.
So they brought me in as a growth marketing consultant.
But this entire time:
I NEVER stopped running email lists as an email list manager.
I was still running email lists for 7, 8, and 9-figure companies.
But instead of looking at email lists from the lens of a copywriter or list manager…
I was looking at it from the lens of an investor and a growth partner.
Here’s the most important part though:
When you run lists for 9-figure DR companies, you see how expensive it can be to make mistakes with your email list.
I won’t get too technical here, as I already explain the economics of running 9-figure email lists in this video here… (fast fwd to 1:24:54)
Let me just say, though:
For businesses of this size (in Direct Response at least), the email list is the guardian of the company’s revenue…
And it’s what lets you run payroll for hundreds of employees.
When you send offers that don’t work, the company actually loses money, and you have to make up for that lost money, in order to stay on track with your forecast…
This is so you can appease investors, and meet your company’s YoY growth trajectory.
Not to mention…companies’ strategic plans of hiring and expanding revolve around these forecasts.
So, there’s little room for error here.
The best way to avoid such errors is to follow the data, to ensure what you do continually works.
And this is where your email strategy becomes drastically different.
Now, your focus is looking at historical sales reports, and making data-driven email decisions based on what will help the company the most.
If you think that sounds intense or technical, believe me…
When you invest in a company, and your own capital is on the line, it’s 10x more intense.
I know this is long, and I’m almost done.
It’s just REALLY important that I share this stuff with you now, because I want my future emails to make sense and to be valuable to you.
And I’ve found, the easiest way to describe my methods and help you grow your company is through sharing stories like this.
To that end, growing your email revenue easily, comes down to not just having more skills…
But also changing how you view email marketing in general.
So if you want an easier way to rapidly grow your email revenue…
The key is to think through the decisions you make with your email list as an investor, and as someone whose email channel is the guardian of their company’s revenue and lets them run payroll for hundreds of employees.
Told ya I’d give you actionable tips to implement today :)
In future emails, I’ll dig more into concrete action steps.
Today’s lesson though, was about the big picture & really shifting how you approach and think about email marketing in general.
I'll see you in the next email, and I'm looking forward to growing your email revenue with you,
~Matt
